Encino Omnium

On November 29th, 50+ racers gathered at the Encino Velodrome to battle it out on the track.

The Encino Omnium, Pure Fix‘s flagship track event (and first of many), was a huge success. The Omnium was broken into four categories of riders, competing over three races for the title. Hours before the first race kicked off a group of 20 fresh riders came to the Velodrome to get track certified by Henry Shibata. Many of those riders went on to compete in the Omnium, their very first time racing on the steeply banked walls.

Encino Omnium Race Coordinator and Pure Fix Race Team Captain Jason Rivera drew together a field of riders made up of both amateurs and professionals. As the midday sun shined down on the Encino Velodrome, the first round of riders lined up on the rail to start the first heat.

Several hours and a dozen races later the winners took the podium as the setting sun cast its cold orange light. Check the full results and send your congrats on the Pure Fix blog!

The event was such a success, that we’re making these races a regular thing. Go clean your skin suit, brush up on your drome skills, and we’ll see you at Encino Omnium 2!

But racing wasn't the only way to win! We also had the #EncinoOmnium instagram contest to see who could capture the day with the best photo. The winning photographer would earn themselves a complete Pure Fix Keirin, so they'll be able to enter the races themselves next time!

Top honors went to @kitkarzen who snapped this awesome shot of the banked turns, blue skies, and a solitary biker.

Check out the rest of the entries below, and keep your eyes peeled here on the blog for updates about the next event. After the success of last weekend, we can't wait to do it again.
